Winter Sowing - Flower Bin 2
FLOWER BIN 2
April 20, 2026
Warming temperatures have resulted in some germination. I've been trying to keep bins in shade to avoid too much germination. Now that it looks like there are no freezes expected in the next 10 days, I'm going to go ahead and start moving bins where they will receive more sun. I hope to add to this post at some point with updates as to how everything did. Some seed varieties are planted in multiple bins- if it is blank then it hasn't germinated in this bin yet.

This was a frustrating one. On this one, the drainage holes became blocked with ice while the bin continued to fill with thawing snow until the pots floated and tipped over. On the bright side, this was one of the best bins it could happen to. In some areas, bachelor buttons are considered invasive and I had debated not planting them, but, then decided I only had a handful of old seeds, I could use them in my patio buckets. Well, looks like there might be just enough to put one in each bucket unless things improve a lot. Nice to have more space in my seed storage and I'll go ahead and enjoy these one last season.
